Discover the magic of northern Costa Rica through an experience that combines culture, traditional crafts, breathtaking rural landscapes, and the relaxation of the famous hot springs fed by the Arenal Volcano.
The adventure begins with a departure from San José toward the Arenal region. Our first stop will be in the city of Grecia, known for its history and for being home to the famous Church of Our Lady of Mercy, a unique metal structure that has become one of the country’s most iconic architectural landmarks.
We will continue on to Sarchí, known as the cradle of Costa Rican handicrafts. Here, we will visit the artisans’ cooperative, where you can learn about some of the work that has brought international fame to this community, as well as see the traditional Costa Rican cart, a national symbol designated as Cultural Heritage. You will also have the opportunity to see the world’s largest cart, recognized by Guinness World Records, and purchase handicrafts made by local artisans.
We will continue our journey through beautiful rural landscapes, farmlands, and communities that reflect the essence of rural Costa Rica. Along the way, you’ll be able to appreciate the variety of agricultural activities that are part of the local economy and contribute to the development of the region’s communities.
Before arriving in La Fortuna, we’ll stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a traditional Costa Rican casado, accompanied by a refreshing drink. This will be an excellent opportunity to sample some of the most representative flavors of Costa Rican cuisine.
Next, we’ll arrive at La Fortuna de San Carlos, a community that has grown at the foot of the majestic Arenal Volcano and is now one of the country’s top tourist destinations. You’ll have the opportunity to explore part of downtown La Fortuna before continuing on to our next experience.
The day ends at Baldi Hot Springs, one of the most renowned hot spring resorts in Costa Rica and around the world. Surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and fed by waters naturally heated by the geothermal activity of the Arenal Volcano, this resort features multiple pools of varying temperatures, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the natural surroundings. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated during your visit and help reduce plastic waste.
In the afternoon, you’ll be able to enjoy the various hot springs, waterfalls, and relaxation areas while taking in the region’s distinctive landscapes. To round out the experience, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner before heading back to San José.
At the end of the tour, you'll return with unforgettable memories of a day that combines culture, tradition, cuisine, and wellness in one of Costa Rica's most iconic destinations.
